Astrology can be further divided into two categories –

Mathematical astrology – This segment of astrology is mainly concerned with the preparation of the horoscope/birth chart. This is done with the help of information like place of birth, date and time of birth, planetary positions that are known at time of birth and plotted thereafter.

On the other hand, when zodiac is divided into 12 equal parts, each comes to be known as zodiac sign. Each zodiac sign forms 30° of the total 360° of the zodiac.

There are 12 houses and 12 zodiac signs in the birth chart, namely:
